Responsibilities
- Circulation & Check-in/Check-out: Manage library card transactions, check materials in and out, and process renewals using our integrated library management system.
- Shelving & Organization: Sort and shelve returned materials according to the Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress classifications to ensure easy accessibility for patrons.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by answering reference questions, helping patrons locate resources, and resolving borrowing issues.
- Material Processing: Inspect returned items for damage, repair minor issues, and prepare new materials for the collection.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of library programs, workshops, and community events.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and experience with library software (e.g., SirsiDynix, Koha).
- Attention to Detail: Ability to organize complex data and maintain accurate records.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods while shelving books.
