Responsibilities
- Shelving & Organization: Maintain the integrity of the library's collection by accurately shelving books, periodicals, DVDs, and media according to the Dewey Decimal System.
- Patron Services: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting visitors with locating materials, answering general inquiries, and troubleshooting basic computer issues.
- Check-In/Out: Process library materials efficiently using the automated library system (ILS), handle fines, and manage circulation desks.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and facilitation of children's story hours, adult workshops, and community events.
- Space Maintenance: Ensure public areas, desks, and floors are clean, organized, and welcoming for all community members.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library, retail, or customer service environment is preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact respectfully with a diverse population.
- Availability: Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and evenings.
