Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with library research, locating materials, and navigating digital databases.
- Manage circulation desk operations, including checking in/out materials, processing fines, and renewing loans.
- Organize, shelve, and maintain the integrity of the library collection to ensure easy accessibility.
- Answer general inquiries via phone, email, and in-person to provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist with digitization projects and maintaining the library’s online catalog.
- Support special events, programs, and outreach initiatives within the local DC community.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a library, customer service, or retail environment is a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and familiarity with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy boxes (up to 25 lbs).
- Effective verbal communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
