Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide friendly and efficient service to library patrons, assisting with finding materials, using computers, and navigating library databases.
- Collection Management: Sort, shelve, and organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and media, ensuring the collection is accessible and orderly.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of library programs, events, and workshops for all age groups.
- Administrative Duties: Manage library circulation desks, check in and check out items, and process fines and fees accurately.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of public areas and workspaces to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Technology Support: Help patrons with basic troubleshooting for library computers, Wi-Fi, and printers.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration: Communicate effectively with library staff and management to ensure seamless operations.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with library management systems (e.g., SirsiDynix, Innovative Interfaces).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move boxes of books up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when managing inventory and handling financial transactions.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
