Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service at circulation desks, assisting patrons with material checkouts, returns, and account management
- Shelve and maintain library collections ensuring proper organization and accessibility of all materials
- Conduct reference interviews and guide patrons in locating resources both physically and digitally
- Assist in developing and executing community outreach programs and educational workshops
- Manage library technology including public computers, printing systems, and digital resource platforms
- Process new acquisitions and maintain accurate inventory records
- Support interlibrary loan operations and material requests
- Collaborate with team members to maintain a welcoming, clean, and safe library environment
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or college coursework preferred
- Minimum 1 year customer service experience in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Proficiency with library systems (e.g., ILS) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication skills with ability to serve diverse populations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Basic knowledge of library classification systems (Dewey Decimal) preferred
- Valid Missouri driver's license may be required for branch rotations
