Responsibilities
- Manage Circulation: Check in and out library materials, process renewals, and manage holds to ensure a seamless borrowing experience for all patrons.
- Patron Support: Assist visitors with locating resources, using library computers, and navigating digital databases via chat or email.
- Collection Management: Sort, shelf-read, and organize books and media according to the Library of Congress classification system.
- Acquisitions & Maintenance: Process new book arrivals, repair damaged materials, and assist with inventory audits and weeding of outdated items.
- Program Assistance: Support the setup and execution of library programs, including story hours, workshops, and community events.
- Remote Assistance: Provide remote support for library account inquiries and digital literacy training sessions.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree in Library Science preferred).
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evenings, to support library operations.
