Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with locating materials, using library computers, and navigating our digital catalog systems.
- Shelving & Organization: Sort, shelve, and organize books, periodicals, and media in the correct Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress order.
- Circulation Support: Check materials in and out, process fines, and manage inter-library loans efficiently.
- Inventory Management: Assist in the annual inventory process and help maintain the overall organization of the library stacks and public areas.
- Program Support: Help set up and break down for library programs, events, and story times as needed.
- Community Outreach: Engage with visitors to promote library resources, programs, and services to the local community.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role or library setting is a strong plus.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Technology: Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software systems quickly.
- Communication: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and move around the library facility.
