Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with checking out and returning materials, answering general inquiries, and providing guidance on library resources.
- Manage circulation desk operations, including processing fines, renewals, and inter-library loan requests accurately and efficiently.
- Organize and shelve library materials using the Library of Congress classification system to ensure easy access for all visitors.
- Provide technical support to patrons regarding the use of public computers, Wi-Fi, and digital databases.
- Monitor library spaces to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all community members.
- Assist with special events and programs, including registration, setup, and cleanup for children’s story hours and adult workshops.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer navigation skills.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow established procedures and policies.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact positively with a diverse population.
- Ability to lift and move books weighing up to 20 pounds and stand for extended periods.
