Responsibilities
- Assist library patrons with locating materials, using computers, and navigating our digital catalog systems.
- Shelve and organize library materials, including books, magazines, and media, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
- Manage the circulation desk, including checking items in and out, processing returns, and collecting fines.
- Process new library acquisitions and maintain accurate inventory records and databases.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries and assisting visitors of all ages.
- Perform light maintenance and cleaning of library stacks and public areas to ensure a welcoming environment.
- Support special events and programs by setting up spaces and assisting with logistics.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn new library software quickly.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
- A genuine interest in reading, education, and community service.
