Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating materials, using computers, and navigating library databases and online catalogs.
- Shelve library materials in correct Dewey Decimal order and maintain the integrity and organization of the stacks.
- Process incoming library books, periodicals, and media, including checking in, labeling, and inventorying.
- Assist with the planning and execution of community programs, story hours, and workshops.
- Answer general inquiries via phone, email, and in-person to provide exceptional, customer-centric service.
- Monitor library spaces to ensure a safe, welcoming, and organized environment for all visitors.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science preferred.
- Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Basic proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office Suite, and library management software (e.g., SirsiDynix, Koha).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly demeanor.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds to retrieve high or low shelving items.
