Responsibilities
- Manage the circulation desk operations, including processing check-ins, check-outs, holds, and renewals efficiently.
- Shelve and organize library materials using the Dewey Decimal System, ensuring accurate classification and maximum accessibility.
- Assist patrons with research inquiries, database navigation, and the use of digital media and equipment.
- Perform regular inventory audits and collection maintenance to preserve the integrity of the library's holdings.
- Support library programs and events by setting up meeting spaces, preparing materials, and assisting attendees.
- Respond to patron inquiries via phone, email, and in person with a focus on exceptional customer service and problem-solving.
- Assist in the acquisition and cataloging of new materials as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, or a library environment is a strong plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with library management systems (e.g., Sierra, Voyager, or similar).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand or walk for extended periods.
- Effective communication skills and a passion for community service.
