Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with locating materials, using library databases, and navigating our digital resources.
- Collection Management: Process new arrivals, shelve books and periodicals in Dewey Decimal order, and repair damaged items to maintain a pristine collection.
- Circulation Services: Manage the circulation desk, including check-ins, check-outs, renewals, and fee collection.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of library programs, events, and outreach activities.
- System Maintenance: Maintain the physical and digital organization of library spaces, including desks, study areas, and public computers.
- Community Outreach: Engage with community members to promote library programs and services effectively.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer literacy (Windows/Mac) and ability to learn library management software quickly.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
