Responsibilities
- Shelve library materials in an organized and efficient manner to ensure easy access for patrons.
- Assist patrons with locating books, using computers, and navigating the library catalog system.
- Process new library items, including labeling, stamping, and covering books.
- Manage the circulation desk, including checking in/out materials, managing holds, and processing fines.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of public areas, reading rooms, and book stacks.
- Answer inquiries via phone, email, or in-person regarding library policies, programs, and hours.
- Perform light administrative tasks, such as data entry and filing.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a library, archive, or customer service role is preferred but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail.
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort with database or library management systems.
- Ability to lift and move boxes of books up to 30 lbs.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Reliable attendance and a professional demeanor.
