Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Greet visitors, answer reference questions, and assist patrons in locating books, materials, and digital resources.
- Library Operations: Process new book arrivals, shelve returned items, and maintain the correct order of materials on shelves.
- Circulation Services: Check materials in and out, manage library cards, and collect and process fines and fees accurately.
- System Management: Use the library's Integrated Library System (ILS) to update patron records and perform basic data entry tasks.
- Program Support: Help set up and facilitate children's story times, book clubs, and other community programs.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all library visitors.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and library management software (e.g., SirsiDynix, Koha).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Organization: Ability to sort, organize, and shelve materials with high attention to detail.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and push book carts.
