Responsibilities
- Circulation Management: Check materials in and out, manage fines, and process interlibrary loans efficiently.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries, helping patrons find materials, and guiding them through library technology.
- Shelving and Organization: Sort, shelf-read, and organize returned items to ensure the collection is accessible and in proper order.
- Program Support: Assist with the setup and execution of library programs, events, and workshops for all ages.
- Collection Maintenance: Monitor inventory levels, help identify missing materials, and participate in weeding and processing new acquisitions.
- Technology Help: Support patrons with basic computer usage, printing, and navigating digital library resources.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or coursework in Library Science preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer literacy and comfort using library management systems (e.g., Sierra, Evergreen) is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs, and push book carts.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills with a keen eye for accuracy in data entry and shelving.
