Responsibilities
- Manage the main circulation desk, including check-in/check-out processes, fines, and patron account management.
- Assist patrons with research inquiries, catalog navigation, and the use of digital resources and library computers.
- Shelve returned materials and organize the library's extensive collection using the Dewey Decimal System.
- Process new acquisitions and update library databases with high attention to detail.
- Assist in the preservation and organization of the special collections and archives.
- Conduct library tours and provide orientation for new patrons and community groups.
- Collaborate with staff to develop and promote library programs and community events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; Associate's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel) and experience with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with diverse community members.
- Familiarity with Dewey Decimal System and Library of Congress classification.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting boxes of books and standing for extended periods.
