Responsibilities
- Design and implement quantum algorithms for optimization and simulation problems
- Develop novel error-correction techniques to achieve fault-tolerant quantum computing
- Lead cross-functional teams of physicists and software engineers on prototype systems
- Publish peer-reviewed research in top-tier journals and present at international conferences
- Secure government grants and corporate partnerships for quantum research initiatives
- Mentor PhD candidates and interns in quantum information science
- Contribute to open-source quantum software frameworks like Qiskit and Cirq
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or related field with 3+ years postdoctoral experience
- Published research in quantum algorithms or quantum error correction
- Proficiency in quantum programming languages (Q#, Quil) and classical Python/C++
- Experience with quantum hardware platforms (IBM Q, Rigetti, or Google Sycamore)
- Demonstrated ability to secure NSF or DOE grants for quantum research
- Strong background in linear algebra, probability theory, and computational complexity
- Track record of collaborating with industrial partners on tech transfer
