Responsibilities
- Design and implement novel quantum algorithms for optimization, simulation, and machine learning
- Develop error correction protocols to achieve fault-tolerant quantum systems
- Lead experimental research using superconducting and photonic quantum processors
- Translate theoretical frameworks into deployable quantum software solutions
- Secure $2M+ in research grants through NSF and industry partnerships
- Mentor cross-disciplinary teams of physicists and software engineers
- Author peer-reviewed publications and whitepapers for IEEE/ACM journals
Qualifications
- PhD in Quantum Physics, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering
- 5+ years of hands-on quantum computing research experience
- Expertise in quantum circuit design and gate-level optimization
- Proficiency in Qiskit, Cirq, or Q# programming frameworks
- Published work in Nature/Science or equivalent tier journals
- Deep understanding of quantum decoherence and noise mitigation
- Experience securing federal research grants (NSF, DoE)
- Strong background in linear algebra and quantum information theory
