Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with locating materials, researching topics, and utilizing library technology.
- Collection Management: Sort, shelve, and organize returned books and media to ensure the collection is accessible and well-maintained.
- Circulation Desk: Process check-ins, check-outs, and renewals using our Integrated Library System (ILS).
- Reference Support: Help users navigate digital databases, online catalogs, and reference materials.
- Program Support: Assist in setting up and managing community programs, events, and story times.
- Inventory Control: Assist in periodic inventory audits to track collection status.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Library Science preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library or customer service role is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with library automation software (e.g., SirsiDynix, Koha) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a busy environment.
- Availability: Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required by the schedule.
