Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service at the circulation desk, helping patrons locate materials, access databases, and utilize library technology.
- Collection Management: Process new arrivals, check-in/out items, and maintain accurate inventory records of books, media, and digital assets.
- Equipment & Tech Support: Assist users with lending devices, tablets, and Wi-Fi setups; troubleshoot basic library software issues.
- Organization: Shelve returned items accurately using the Dewey Decimal System and organize library spaces to maintain a welcoming environment.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of library programs, workshops, and community events.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library, customer service, or retail setting is preferred.
- Skills: Familiarity with library systems (e.g., Sierra, Horizon) is a plus; basic computer literacy is essential.
- Attributes: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stand for extended periods.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
