Responsibilities
- Customer Service & Circulation: Manage the circulation desk, check in/out items, and assist patrons with library accounts and requests.
- Collection Management: Sort, shelve, and organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and digital media, ensuring the collection is accessible.
- Remote Support: Provide virtual assistance to patrons via email and live chat, resolving account issues and guiding them through online resources.
- Program Assistance: Support the setup and execution of library programs, workshops, and community events.
- Technology Help: Assist patrons with using library computers, printing devices, and our online catalog system.
- Inventory & Maintenance: Conduct regular inventory checks of the collection and maintain the cleanliness and safety of library spaces.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is highly desirable.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer navigation; familiarity with library management software (e.g., Sierra, Koha) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Detail Oriented: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Remote Work: Ability to work independently and effectively in a hybrid or remote setting when required.
