Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with book circulation, returns, and overdue management using Symphony library software
- Provide reference support and technology guidance for public computer access and digital resources
- Shelve materials, maintain collection organization, and perform inventory audits
- Support community outreach initiatives including literacy programs and cultural events
- Process interlibrary loans and manage periodical subscriptions
- Assist with children's storytime sessions and youth program coordination
- Contribute to social media content and promotional materials for library services
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; library science coursework preferred
- Minimum 1 year customer service experience in retail, hospitality, or education
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic library management systems
- Strong communication skills with ability to assist diverse patron populations
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Valid Louisiana driver's license (for outreach program participation)
- Basic knowledge of Dewey Decimal System and cataloging principles
- Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
