We are currently seeking a dedicated and organized Library Assistant to join our friendly team. In this role, you will be the face of our library, helping patrons find exactly what they need while maintaining the order and efficiency of our collections. If you are detail-oriented and passionate about customer service, we want to meet you.
Responsibilities
- Sort, shelve, and organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and digital media, to ensure easy access for patrons.
- Assist patrons with locating books, using the library catalog, and navigating online databases.
- Provide exceptional customer service at the circulation and information desks, answering inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
- Process new library arrivals, check in returned materials, and maintain accurate inventory records.
- Operate library management systems (e.g., Sierra, Koha) and basic office equipment.
- Assist with the setup of library programs and events, including event registration and logistics.
- Uphold library policies regarding borrowing, fines, and patron behavior.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Willingness to participate in our comprehensive paid training program.
- Basic computer literacy and typing skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy items (up to 25 lbs).
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings and weekends.
