Responsibilities
- Manage the circulation desk, including checking in/out materials and processing fines.
- Shelve and organize library collections according to the Dewey Decimal System and Library of Congress classifications.
- Assist patrons with research queries, computer access, and locating specific resources.
- Perform basic cataloging and inventory management tasks to ensure collection accuracy.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of public areas and staff workspaces.
- Assist with the preparation and execution of library programs and community events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in a library or customer service environment is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including Microsoft Office Suite and library management software (e.g., Koha, Millennium).
- Ability to lift and move boxes of books weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
