Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with locating materials, answering questions, and navigating library databases.
- Shelving & Maintenance: Organize, shelve, and repair library materials to ensure collections are accessible and in order.
- Circulation Services: Check in and check out materials, process fines, and manage holds using our integrated library systems.
- Program Support: Assist with the setup and execution of library programs, storytimes, and community events.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of library equipment, including computers, printers, and scanners.
- Security & Safety: Monitor library premises to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree or experience in library science is a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with library automation software (e.g., Sierra, Polaris).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move boxes of books weighing up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Work Flexibility: Willingness to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the library schedule.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy when processing transactions and managing inventory.
