Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating books, periodicals, and digital resources using the library catalog and library systems.
- Shelve library materials accurately and maintain the organization of the shelves.
- Process new library books, check them in, and prepare them for circulation.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries, helping with computer usage, and assisting with library programs.
- Monitor library areas to ensure safety and security for all visitors.
- Help manage the circulation desk, including checking materials in and out, collecting fines, and managing holds.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Library Science preferred but not mandatory.
- Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office applications.
- Ability to lift and move boxes of books weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Reliable and able to work a varied schedule including weekends and holidays.
