Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide friendly and efficient customer service at the circulation desk, assisting patrons with check-outs, returns, and account inquiries.
- Collection Management: Organize, shelve, and maintain library materials to ensure a logical and accessible collection for all users.
- System Support: Assist patrons with basic troubleshooting of library computers, printers, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
- Resource Discovery: Guide patrons in using the online catalog and digital databases to find books, articles, and multimedia resources.
- Program Support: Help prepare for and facilitate library programs, including story times, workshops, and community events.
- Administrative Duties: Process new library acquisitions, update records, and assist with general office tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, retail, or library assistance is preferred.
- Skills: Strong computer literacy with experience in Microsoft Office Suite and library management software (e.g., Koha, SirsiDynix) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, and bend or reach to shelve books.
