Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries, assisting with research projects, and guiding patrons to relevant resources.
- Circulation Management: Process library materials, check items in and out, manage fines, and maintain the circulation desk.
- Collection Maintenance: Shelve library materials in an organized manner, repair damaged books, and assist in inventory management and weeding processes.
- Program Support: Help organize and facilitate community events, story hours, and educational workshops.
- System Management: Utilize library management software to update catalog records and assist with digital resource troubleshooting.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a strong plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role or a library setting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer systems, MS Office Suite, and familiarity with library management software (e.g., SirsiDynix, Koha) is highly desirable.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
