Responsibilities
- Patron Support & Reference Services: Assist patrons with locating materials, conducting research, and navigating our digital databases and library catalogs effectively.
- Collection Management: Process new acquisitions, shelving materials, and performing inventory control to ensure the library's collection is organized and accessible.
- Program Coordination: Assist in the setup and facilitation of library events, workshops, and reading programs for all age groups.
- Technical Maintenance: Monitor library computers and printing equipment, providing basic technical troubleshooting to ensure a smooth user experience.
- Archival & Digital Preservation: Support the digitization of historical documents and maintain proper archival standards for sensitive materials.
- Community Outreach: Engage with the local community to promote library programs and services, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIS) preferred; High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library, archive, or customer service role is highly desirable.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Integrated Library Systems (ILS) or database software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately, such as cataloging and data entry, with a keen eye for detail.
- Problem Solving: Ability to troubleshoot basic technical issues and assist patrons with inquiries efficiently.
