Responsibilities
- Assist library patrons in locating materials, answering reference questions, and utilizing library resources effectively.
- Manage circulation desk operations, including checking in and out materials, processing fines, and renewing loans.
- Shelve library materials accurately using the Library of Congress classification system to ensure inventory organization.
- Provide technical support to patrons regarding library computers, Wi-Fi access, and software applications.
- Assist with the planning and execution of library programs, events, and community outreach initiatives.
- Organize and maintain physical and digital collections to ensure a seamless user experience.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in Library Science preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a strong focus on customer service and community engagement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new library management software systems quickly.
- Attention to detail and the ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Ability to lift and move boxes of books up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Familiarity with library services and a passion for literacy and lifelong learning.
