Responsibilities
- Collection Management: Responsible for the accurate shelving, sorting, and organization of library materials, including books, periodicals, and multimedia.
- Patron Support: Provide exceptional customer service at the circulation desk, assisting with check-outs, returns, and holds.
- Technology Assistance: Guide patrons in the use of library computers, printers, and digital resources, including the online catalog.
- Program Coordination: Assist in the planning and execution of children's story hours, book clubs, and community workshops.
- Inventory Control: Participate in regular inventory counts and help maintain the overall cleanliness and safety of the library environment.
- Inter-library Loans: Process inter-library loan requests and manage external correspondence.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable navigating computer databases.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and navigate the library aisles efficiently.
