Your Role and Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of our circulation and reference desks. You will ensure the efficient flow of library materials and provide exceptional service to a diverse community.
Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating books, digital resources, and archival materials using the library catalog and Dewey Decimal System.
- Manage the circulation desk, including checking in/out materials, processing fines, and managing holds.
- Shelve returned library items in an organized and accurate manner to maintain collection integrity.
- Provide basic technical support to patrons regarding Wi-Fi access, e-readers, and computer usage.
- Answer inquiries regarding library programs, hours, and policies in a professional and helpful manner.
- Assist in the maintenance and organization of public spaces to ensure a welcoming environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in a library, archive, or customer service environment preferred.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills are essential for cataloging and shelving.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to lift boxes weighing up to 30 lbs and stand for extended periods.
