Responsibilities
- Shelving and Organization: Process, shelf, and maintain library materials, including books, periodicals, and multimedia to ensure easy access for patrons.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, assisting with computer usage, and helping patrons locate resources.
- Check-in/Check-out: Operate library management systems to check books in and out, manage fines, and process library cards for new members.
- Collection Maintenance: Monitor inventory levels, identify damaged materials for repair or replacement, and assist in weeding outdated collections.
- Program Support: Help set up and organize library programs, events, and workshops for children and adults.
- Reference Services: Assist patrons in navigating online databases and digital resources.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library, retail, or customer service environment is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong proficiency with computers and standard office software (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are a plus.
- Interpersonal: Ability to interact professionally and courteously with a diverse population of all ages.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
