Responsibilities
- Assist patrons in locating and checking out library materials using integrated library systems
- Provide reference services and basic research assistance to library visitors
- Process new acquisitions and maintain accurate inventory records
- Support digital literacy initiatives by helping patrons access online resources
- Organize and maintain library collections according to classification systems
- Conduct outreach programs to promote library services to community groups
- Assist with interlibrary loan requests and document delivery services
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent library experience required
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to assist diverse patrons effectively
- Proficiency with library management software and digital resources
- Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of library classification systems (Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Valid New York State driver's license may be required for branch transfers
