Responsibilities
- Develop 5-10 year technology roadmaps for emerging domains (quantum computing, AGI, neuromorphic systems)
- Lead cross-functional workshops with R&D teams to identify 2026-relevant innovation opportunities
- Conduct horizon scanning of global tech trends, patent landscapes, and academic breakthroughs
- Author strategic white papers on future-facing technologies for C-suite and board audiences
- Manage $5M+ annual R&D budget allocation for experimental initiatives
- Establish partnerships with leading academic labs and national research consortia
- Mentor junior strategists in futures-thinking methodologies
Qualifications
- 10+ years in strategic technology planning or R&D leadership
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Futures Studies
- Deep expertise in at least two emerging tech domains (quantum, AI, biotech, etc.)
- Proven track record of translating foresight into commercial roadmaps
- Experience with scenario planning and technology impact assessment frameworks
- Strong network in global innovation ecosystems (Silicon Valley, Cambridge, Shenzhen)
- Published thought leadership in technology foresight or innovation strategy
- Exceptional communication skills for influencing diverse stakeholders
