Responsibilities
- Safely walk multiple dogs simultaneously using proper handling techniques
- Provide feeding, hydration, and medication administration as per client instructions
- Maintain detailed digital logs of pet behavior, health updates, and service times
- Transport pets to veterinary appointments or grooming facilities when required
- Implement emergency protocols for animal incidents or weather-related hazards
- Perform basic pet first aid and recognize signs of distress or illness
- Build strong client relationships through consistent communication and reliability
- Ensure equipment (leashes, treats, waste bags) is sanitized and fully stocked
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years professional dog handling or walking experience
- Valid Michigan driver's license with clean driving record
- Red Cross Pet First Aid/CPR certification preferred
- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and walk 5+ miles daily
- Proficient in scheduling apps and digital record-keeping
- Excellent time management and route optimization skills
- Must pass comprehensive background and drug screening
- Deep knowledge of dog behavior, breeds, and local Detroit regulations
