Responsibilities
- Circulation Management: Process library materials efficiently, including checking books in and out, managing fines, and renewing loans at the circulation desk.
- Reference Assistance: Assist patrons with locating books, using the library catalog, and navigating digital resources.
- Collection Maintenance: Sort, shelve, and organize returned materials to ensure the library is accessible and well-arranged.
- Program Support: Help set up and facilitate children's story times, adult workshops, and community events.
- Customer Service: Answer inquiries via phone and in-person, resolving issues professionally and cheerfully.
- Technology Support: Troubleshoot basic computer issues and assist patrons with e-reader and tablet usage.
- Facility upkeep: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment throughout the library branches.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or library settings is preferred but not mandatory; on-the-job training provided.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact with diverse populations.
- Technology: Basic computer proficiency and comfort with learning new software systems.
- Availability: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by library schedules.
