Responsibilities
- Collection Management: Sort, shelf, and organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and media, ensuring accurate classification and inventory control.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with locating resources, using library computers, and navigating our digital catalog systems.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of library programs, workshops, and community events, including registration and crowd management.
- Reference Services: Help patrons utilize research databases and online resources effectively.
- Shelving & Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of library stacks and public areas.
- Check-in/Check-out: Process library materials using automated circulation systems and handle fines or account inquiries.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library, retail, or customer service setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer literacy; experience with library management systems (e.g., Sierra, SirsiDynix) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse population.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and move books on rolling carts.
- Reliability: Punctuality and a strong work ethic are essential.
