Responsibilities
- Manage circulation desk operations including check-ins, check-outs, and renewals
- Assist patrons with catalog searches, digital resource navigation, and research inquiries
- Organize and maintain physical/digital library collections with precision
- Coordinate community outreach programs and literacy events
- Process new acquisitions and handle interlibrary loan requests
- Maintain patron records and ensure data privacy compliance
- Support technology assistance for public computers and digital tools
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Library Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years library or customer service experience
- Proficiency with integrated library systems (ILS) and digital databases
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict resolution abilities
- Basic knowledge of cataloging standards (MARC, Dewey Decimal)
- Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends
- Newark residency preferred
