Responsibilities
- Collection Management: Assist in the organization, shelving, and maintenance of physical and digital library collections to ensure easy accessibility for patrons.
- Patron Services: Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries, assisting with computer use, and guiding visitors to resources.
- System Maintenance: Support the library management system by updating records, processing new acquisitions, and managing inter-library loans.
- Program Support: Help prepare and set up for community events, story hours, and workshops.
- Reference Assistance: Direct patrons to appropriate databases and reference materials both in-person and remotely.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library or customer service environment is a plus.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage inventory and data entry with high accuracy.
- Technology: Proficiency with computer systems, library databases, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with a diverse community.
- Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as required.
