Responsibilities
- Sort, shelve, and organize books, magazines, and audio-visual materials using the Dewey Decimal System.
- Assist patrons with locating materials, using computers, and navigating library databases and online catalogs.
- Manage circulation desk operations, including checking in/out items, processing fines, and issuing library cards.
- Monitor library areas to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Assist with the preparation and setup of library programs and events for children and adults.
- Perform basic inventory control and light book repair tasks to maintain collection integrity.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is a plus, but not required due to our paid training program.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency with typing.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs safely.
