Responsibilities
- Circulation Support: Assist patrons with check-in, check-out, renewals, and holds processing using the Integrated Library System (ILS).
- Reference Assistance: Provide general directional assistance, answer basic inquiries, and guide patrons to physical and digital resources.
- Collection Management: Sort, shelf-read, and organize library materials to ensure accurate inventory and accessibility.
- Program Support: Help set up and facilitate children’s storytimes, adult workshops, and community events.
- Patron Services: Maintain a welcoming atmosphere on the service desk and address patron concerns with patience and professionalism.
- Technology Maintenance: Assist in troubleshooting common library equipment, including self-checkout kiosks and printers.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role or library setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency with computer systems and basic office software (Microsoft Office Suite) is essential.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Demands: Ability to lift boxes up to 30 lbs, stand for extended periods, and reach shelves on ladders.
