Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service at the circulation desk, including check-ins/check-outs and account management
- Assist patrons with locating materials, using digital resources, and navigating library databases
- Process new acquisitions and maintain accurate catalog records using ILS systems
- Shelve materials and maintain organized, accessible collections throughout the facility
- Support library programs and events, including setup, registration, and participant assistance
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting for public computers/printers
- Contribute to collection development through weeding and deselection processes
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Library Science degree or coursework preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in library operations or customer service role
- Proficiency with integrated library systems (e.g., Sierra, Koha)
- Strong knowledge of Dewey Decimal System and library classification
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to serve diverse populations
- Basic troubleshooting skills for public technology equipment
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Valid California driver's license (if required for branch mobility)
