Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating materials and navigating our digital and physical resources effectively.
- Process check-ins, check-outs, and renewals using our integrated library management system (SirsiDynix).
- Shelve library materials according to established classification systems (Dewey Decimal and Library of Congress).
- Monitor library areas to ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Organize and maintain the circulation desk, including sorting returned items and preparing holds.
- Assist with special events, programs, and outreach activities as scheduled.
- Answer general inquiries and provide accurate directions within the library and building.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail are essential.
- Basic computer literacy and familiarity with database software.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs (books/materials).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly demeanor.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
