As a Library Assistant, you'll be the face of our library, assisting patrons with their information needs, managing circulation systems, and ensuring our collections are accessible and well-maintained. Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons at service desks, including checking materials in/out, issuing library cards, and answering reference inquiries
- Process and shelve library materials efficiently, maintaining accurate shelf order and collection organization
- Assist with cataloging and inventory management of books, digital resources, and multimedia materials
- Operate library technology systems including circulation software, public computers, and self-service kiosks
- Support library programs and events, including set-up, registration, and participant assistance
- Perform routine maintenance of library spaces, ensuring a clean, welcoming environment for all visitors
- Collaborate with team members to resolve patron issues and improve service delivery
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in Library Science or related field preferred
- Minimum 1 year of customer service or library experience required
- Proficiency with computer systems and library software (e.g., ILS, cataloging tools)
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication abilities and multilingual skills a plus
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required by library schedule
- Valid Nevada driver's license and reliable transportation (if required for outreach duties)
