Responsibilities
- Shelving and Maintenance: Sort, shelve, and organize returned books, periodicals, and media in an orderly fashion to ensure easy access for patrons.
- Patron Assistance: Greet visitors warmly, assist with finding materials, and provide basic technology support (e.g., printing, Wi-Fi access).
- Circulation Duties: Operate the checkout and check-in machines, manage library cards, and assist with account inquiries.
- Program Support: Help prepare for and facilitate children's story hours, workshops, and community events.
- Collection Care: Monitor the library collection for damaged items and assist with inventory control processes.
- General Operations: Answer phone inquiries and maintain the cleanliness and safety of the library spaces.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) certificate required.
- Experience: Previous library or customer service experience is not required. We value attitude and eagerness to learn.
- Computer Skills: Basic familiarity with computers and Microsoft Office suite.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly, patient demeanor when interacting with diverse populations.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift boxes of books (up to 20 lbs), and perform light cleaning duties.
- Availability: Must be available to work weekends and some evenings.
