Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting visitors with locating materials, using library computers, and navigating digital databases.
- Circulation Management: Process check-ins and check-outs efficiently, manage fines, and maintain accurate circulation records.
- Collection Maintenance: Organize and shelve returned materials, repair damaged items, and assist in the acquisition of new titles to ensure a well-organized collection.
- Program Support: Help set up and facilitate library programs and events for children and adults, fostering a love for learning in the community.
- Administrative Duties: Perform general clerical tasks, including answering phones, managing emails, and maintaining the front desk area.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills and familiarity with library management software (e.g., Sierra, Evergreen) are highly desirable.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift boxes weighing up to 25 lbs, and reach high shelves.
