Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, assisting with library searches, and guiding patrons to resources.
- Material Management: Sort, shelve, and organize library materials (books, DVDs, periodicals) accurately using the library catalog system.
- Check-in/Check-out: Process library items efficiently, ensuring all due dates and fines are correctly recorded.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and facilitation of library programs, events, and workshops for children and adults.
- Technology Support: Help patrons navigate digital resources, computers, and Wi-Fi services within the library.
- Shelf Organization: Maintain the visual appeal and organization of library sections to ensure easy access for visitors.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or library settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer literacy and familiarity with library management software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift boxes of books (up to 25 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
