Responsibilities
- Manage daily circulation desk operations including check-ins/outs and renewals
- Assist patrons with digital resources, e-books, and research databases
- Shelve materials and maintain accurate shelf order using Dewey Decimal System
- Conduct outreach programs for children, teens, and adult literacy initiatives
- Process new acquisitions and maintain collection inventory
- Support event coordination for community workshops and reading programs
- Train volunteers and provide basic tech troubleshooting for patrons
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college preferred)
- Strong customer service orientation with patience and empathy
- Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to stand for extended periods and push book carts (25 lbs max)
- Valid North Carolina driver's license (for outreach programs)
- Flexibility to work evenings/weekends (1 weekend shift required)
- Interest in library science or education field
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
