Responsibilities
- Manage the circulation desk, including checking in and out materials, processing fines, and managing patron accounts with precision.
- Assist patrons in locating resources, utilizing library catalogs, and using library equipment such as printers and scanners.
- Shelve library materials accurately and organize periodicals, periodicals, and media collections to maintain a tidy environment.
- Organize and maintain library inventory and equipment, ensuring all tools are in working order and properly stored.
- Support library programs and events by setting up rooms, assisting with registration, and providing general event support.
- Answer phone inquiries and provide general information to the public, acting as a friendly face for the library.
- Collaborate with the library team to implement new shelving strategies and improve workflow efficiency.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in customer service, retail, or library settings is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately sort and organize physical and digital materials.
- Proficient in using computer systems and navigating online databases.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy boxes (up to 25 lbs).
- A valid driver’s license is not required, but the ability to travel between branches may be considered.
